Send flowers to a loved one, without leaving your desk!
Designer Flowers had implemented an online ordering system in the past, but discontinued its use due to excessive expense and difficulty of use. With the current eCommerce products now offered by Bermuda banks, Designer Flowers felt they were ready to try again with online ordering. They came to emedia to redesign their website and to create the new ordering system.
emedia updated the look of the site, giving it more modern appeal. The photo galleries were also updated, including new photographs, but also updating the functionality of the photo gallery so that pictures can be rearranged. This feature that was missing from the old site, so new pictures could only be added to the end of the gallery instead of allowing newer work to be displayed more prominently and wedding photos to be grouped in like categories (bouquets, ceremony décor, reception décor, etc.).
The entire shopping cart was created from scratch due to the unique needs of the client. Designer Flowers custom designs every arrangement, and they wanted the ordering system to reflect that personal attention. They did not want a system where customers would choose a pre-designed arrangement from a photograph. This posed some additional challenges in terms of gathering all of information relevant to create a custom arrangement without speaking to the client personally. The result is a series of guiding fields that customers fill in telling Designer Flowers the occasion, recipient, desired colour scheme and price point of the arrangement that they desire. There is also a section for any additional information that may be relevant.
So far, the new online ordering system has been a success. Customers are successfully placing orders and sending them to their loved ones with greater ease than ever before in Bermuda. emedia's Web Development Manager, Bridget Figur, has been proud to work on this project and is pleased with the result. eCommerce is truly starting to hit its stride in Bermuda, and emedia has been a the forefront of designing and developing websites with eCommerce capabilities.
