ABCO Case Study

When emedia was first introduced to ABCO (the Association of Bermuda Compliance Officers) it was a one off advertising assignment. They needed a new ad to help make their upcoming Compliance Summit advert more professional and informative to help bring in attendees. After our team created a successful ad, and the ad ran in the newspapers for a few weeks, we received a call that ABCO would like for us to take over redesigning their online conference schedule pdf, as well as updating and cleaning up their current website.

After consistent maintenance of both projects we received a call a few weeks later to design, manage, and style the 30 page Conference program which included creating copy, liaising between sponsors to put together editorial and ads, laying out the entire program cover to cover, as well as helping with the designing and printing of gift bags, signage, nametags, and venue organization. emedia is honoured that ABCO was so pleased with our work, that the calls kept coming in and the projects became more in-depth. Everything was completed to the client's satisfaction and we look forward to doing more in the future with ABCO.

What's what in the world of social media

Social media is getting a big buzz these days but what these sites are and how your company can get involved can be a bit confusing. With that in mind, we decided to give you a quick run down of some of the major social networking sites and how your company can best utilize them:

Facebook: Facebook allows you to create a page for your company and interested consumers can become your "fans." It is a good resource if you want to be able to post photos or video or let people know about occasional promotions.

Twitter: Twitter is intended to work as a dialogue between businesses and between businesses and their customers. Postings are limited to 160 characters, and people can choose to "follow" your "tweets" and you can follow others. Twitter works best if you have enough to say to be in constant communication with your customers or vendors. It functions best if you are able to engage in a give and take, where you engage in conversations with your followers and those you follow.

LinkedIn: LinkedIn really brings the "networking" to social networking. You can create a profile for your company, add "contacts", post available jobs, and a host of other functions. LinkedIn is especially useful for creating business-to-business contacts but is not a good way to try to push a product.

These are by no means the only sites in the social media realm, but these are some of the major players that you need to be aware of and evaluating their potential usefulness to your company.

Employee Spotlight: Bridget Clammer

Website Development Manager

No, it's not a typo, our resident web guru has gotten married, so Bridget Figur is now Bridget Clammer. While you won't see her around emedia much in October as she will be off on her safari honeymoon in Kenya, Bridget will be back to work in November ready to bring our clients the stellar web development that they look to emedia to provide. Bridget has become a bit of a minor celebrity in Bermuda, thanks to news coverage we have gotten on emedia's involvement in TechWeek, our participation in the BSBDC's forum on eCommerce, our recent launch of several eCommerce sites and our participation in the Royal Gazette's Ask the Pro. She's even been stopped on the street by strangers who have seen her so many times, they feel like they know her.
