The Argus 400 Challenge gets your "Feet in the Street"

To celebrate Bermuda's 400th Anniversary, the Argus Group has issued a challenge to all residents to participate in the Argus 400 Challenge - an incentive to help participants walk, jog or run the 2009 May 24th Half-Marathon Derby. The initial concept was to get 400 new participants in the Marathon but the ultimate goal is to get residents to "put their feet in the street" and promote a healthier lifestyle through exercise. For a minimal fee you will receive training schedules, tips'n'tricks and monthly training power hour sessions where you can meet and train with other participants.

As the advertising agency for the Argus Group, emedia was involved in this project from the start, to assist with the conception and initial brainstorming of the idea and then to develop and execute the marketing plan, which was launched on Thursday 30th October.

Now 1 week into the programme over 100 participants have signed up and the future looks bright for an increase in numbers for the 2009 half-marathon. If you are interested in joining the Argus 400 Challenge go to www.argus.bm or visit their Customer Service Centre in Hamilton.

Corporate Image Matters on a Small Island

In business, as in life, perception is often more important than reality. A potential customer's perception of your company will largely determine whether or not they choose to do business with you, and this perception may not always be an accurate representation. If they see you as professional, productive and competent, they will want to do business with you. If they see you as amateurish, lazy and ineffectual, they probably won't. This is where having strong corporate image comes in.

Corporate image refers to how a company is perceived by outsiders. It is the impression that potential customers have of your company. Corporate image is influenced by factors both within and outside of your company and both can be managed with an effective marketing and public relations plan. Everything from your name and logo to where and how you choose to advertise plays into your corporate image. Good marketing ensures that the message you are putting out there is consistent and that it evokes what you want people to associate with your business.

External factors that influence your corporate image include information from the media, word-of-mouth, and customer experience. These external factors are the reason that a positive corporate image is so important on a small island like Bermuda. Word spreads fast over these twenty-one square miles, and any negative perceptions that are out there can quickly have a big impact on your business. Stemming the flow of negative perceptions can be managed with an effective public relations plan. Public relations can help highlight your company's positive attributes and help clarify negative information and turn it into a positive.

emedia's marketing and public relations teams can work with you to make sure that your corporate image is what it needs to be and what steps can be taken to keep it that way.
