A Brief History

In 2010 emedia Bermuda Limited celebrates its 10th anniversary! For those of you who are not as familiar with emedia's progression over the years here is a brief history...emedia officially opened for business on January 4th 2000 from the living room of Managing Director, Jennifer Ward's home with only 2 employees on the payroll and the dream of becoming Bermuda's leading website design house.

Over the first year we renovated and moved into our cozy office space on Cobb's Hill in Warwick with an expanded vision. We set our sights on becoming one of the island's best full-service advertising agencies, offering website design and development as well as strategic marketing and print design services. These 2 lines of business quickly proved to be the right combination for our clients as we were able to offer cohesive plans that covered all areas of their marketing needs.

Over the past few years, public relations became a natural progression for the company and in 2009 we officially were able to offer a complete package of public relations services with the hiring of a Public Relations Manager.

In 2010, our team now consists of 7 unique and talented individuals and we are capable of offering our clients comprehensive marketing, public relations and website services covering all areas of their communications needs.

Libby Cook-Toppan - Graphic Designer 2001-2002
Libby holds the title as emedia's first employee. Since her time at emedia, she has stepped into the role of owner and publisher of Bermuda Homes & Gardens Magazine and currently has loads of fun breeding Maine Coon Cats.

Erica Martin - Account Manager 2002-2004
Erica's career in Marketing and Communications has continued to grow with positions held in marketing departments at Elbow Beach and Butterfield Bank. She is currently the Marketing Manager at Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Robin Soares (Mullan) - Graphic Designer 2003-2004
After working as a designer here at emedia, Robin has continued in the business with design positions at Trimmingham's and Capital G. She is now a Graphic Designer at Butterfield Bank. In her personal life, Robin has married and has had a second daughter Samantha.

Marilyn Zuill (Gauntlett) - Junior Graphic Designer 2002-2004
After leaving emedia, Marilyn completed a 3-year Arts Degree in England. Since then she has married and returned to Bermuda taking on a Graphic Designer position at Advantage. In 2009 she had her first child, Logan, and is a stay at home mom.

Suzette Sailsman - Senior Graphic Designer 2004-2007
After leaving emedia in 2007, Suzette took on the role of Graphic Designer at the Department of Communications.

Heather Cooper - Account Manager 2004-2007
Heather started the trend of babies here at emedia, having left the company to have her second child and to move to London for 2 years. Heather has recently moved back to the island and is currently resettling into their home that they purchased several months before they left in 2007.

The start of 2010 marks a milestone for emedia as we celebrate 10 years of business. As I sit and reflect, it seems hard to imagine that 10 years has gone by. I can't help first to think of myself at 24 years old sitting in the converted living room of my house spending the first week of business setting up Quickbooks and developing client relationships that continue to this day.

Over the years, there have been many ups and downs - memorable staff who have gone on to great things after their start here at emedia. There have been weddings, divorces, many a milestone birthday (somehow always a 30th), unforgettable Christmas parties and so many pregnancies we have lost track. :)

I take this opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved over the years. The continued success of emedia would not be possible without the continued support of our clients and the dedication of our staff.

I cannot be more excited to see where the next 10 years will take us and look forward to the future.
