Last month, emedia was proud to lend a hand with the Eliza Dolittle Society’s 5th annual ‘Soup-A-Bowl’ charity event. Held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, this event gave emedia the chance to work on a highly exciting project for a noble cause.
The Soup-A-Bowl is two-part event held every year to raise money for the under privileged in Bermuda. An initial soup competition challenges Bermuda’s professional and amateur chefs to submit unique and delicious soups for a panel of experienced judges. The finalists go on to have their soup recipes served at the main Soup-A-Bowl event, where attendees vote on their favorite dishes. Aside from competitors, many restaurants throughout the Island contribute their finest soups for the enjoyment of all who attend. This year featured mouth watering entries from establishments such as Latin, Bonefish, Tucker’s Point Hotel, Wahoo Bistro both Fairmont Hamilton & Southampton Princess’, Bolero and KFC!
For the emedia team, this event was not only a pleasure to attend, but also a very exciting and challenging project to be involved with. A sizable amount of print materials were needed in support of the event. Everything from competition entry forms, event flyers, tickets, sponsorship posters and stickers had to be designed and printed, giving our design team quite a handful!
Garnering press coverage in advance of the event was critical to ticket sales. Luckily, there are many media outlets throughout the island willing to lend support to a worthy cause such as this. We were able to have several radio spots air as well as print editorial and postings in the community calendar. While tickets were slow to sell to begin with, they were snatched up swiftly as the event drew closer, resulting in an excellent turnout.
With the event proving to be a resounding success, we at emedia look forward to getting even more involved in future Soup-A-Bowl events!
